Syra Sparkle*
Syra Sparkle is a queer Nightlife Photographer & creative based in New York. With much of her visual inspiration stemming from Japan pop and underground culture, Syra's love affair with Tokyo developed early on. Traveling to Japan yearly, she often captured images highlighting aspects of the new aged culture; modern day Harajuku Fashion, music, and Tokyo's underground scene. And with a love for all things spooky, Syra also seamlessly incorporates both creepy and cute aesthetics into her way of life as well as her art.
Due to changes during covid, she refocused her sites back to the New York City Nightlife scene, which she was lively participant in nearly 10 years prior. Now shooting Drag shows, musical events, and Nightlife everywhere she travels, Syra is in love with showcasing queer people and the joy of watering our weird.
"I don't usually feel inclined to explain my work because most times there isn't a process to be explained. Using my own eyes like a camera lense almost everything can be a photograph, That is how I view the world. I capture moments as they are there and I don't feel their has to be an explanation.. I know most people say my work speaks for itself, mine doesn't. My work speaks for me. Look at my work to get a glimpse how my eyes see the world"
